The History
Lottie has been teaching woodwind instruments (specialising in clarinet) for donkey's years! She has taught thousands of young clarinettists and thought it would be exciting and different if her pupils were taught by a character; someone who was wise, fun and full of exciting ideas!
After visiting a dark cave in the Peak District, she decided the character would live there. During a very boring work meeting, she came up with the idea that the character would be part musical instrument and part animal... an 'Instrumal'. THE CLARIPHANT was born. Other hilarious Instrumals were created there and then: the Oboaconstrictor, the Saxaroo and the Unihorn. After being told off for laughing out loud, she decided to take the concept to her pupils. They LOVED it and helped her to create more Instrumals and compose a piece of music for each of them. Lottie wanted easy accompaniments, so her pupils could accompany each other.
After sketching out the characters, she needed someone too bring them to life... LUKA!
Lottie and Luka were on the same zany wavelength and Luka brought the characters to life.
Lottie's pupils loved The Clariphant and wanted other clarinettists to enjoy it too. The Clariphant and the Kazoos is the first book written in The Clariphant series, but THE CLARIPHANT ULTIMATE TUTOR BOOK, The Clariphant Masters Sight Reading, The Clariphant Tackles Scales and The Clariphant and the Long Lost Cousins are all in the pipeline...
